SEPTEMBER LIVE DATES

SEP 6, 2011: Barry plays two nights upstairs in Whelan's in Dublin on Wednesday the 7th and 28th of September.

The night of the 7th will be a solo show featuring some of his biggest folk hits through the years and songs from his latest opus, "Small Mercies", done stripped down and acoustic. It'll be like Bon Jovi unplugged all over again.  The 28th will be with a full band.

Very special guest on the 7th will be Gary Fitzpatrick, and Minnie and the Illywhackers on the 28th.

Cover is 8 Euro.

"SMALL MERCIES" NOW AVAILABLE ON CD & iTUNES

MAY 27, 2011: Barry's new album "Small Mercies" is now available. It should be in the shops in early June, but you can buy it right now, and directly from the man himself for 10 EURO, with free shipping anywhere in the world.  You can also purchase the album from iTunes.

NEW ALBUM RELEASE

MAY 13, 2011: Barry is launching his new album, "Small Mercies", with a gig at the Crawdaddy, Harcourt Street in Dublin on Friday the 27th of May. It will be an evening of songs about men wandering around libraries, temperance mobs, downsizing, pawnbrokers and the ghosts of Pigtown. There will be the usual between-song meanderings and local history trivia (but don't let that put you off attending).

Barry is delighted that some of the folk who joined him on the album will be playing at the gig; Joss Moorkens on drums, John Hegarty on keyboards and Shane McGrath and Gary Fitzpatrick on guitar, banjo, backing vocals and salty banter. Michael "Murph" Murphy will be pinning it all to the floor on bass. Very special guests on the night are Ken O'Neill and Gary Fitzpatrick's Dead Zoo. The damage is 10 euro and gates open at 8pm. The album was recorded with the brilliant Stephen Shannon at his Experimental Audio studio in Dublin. It's a departure for Barry in that it's his first solo record with a full band. However, his hometown remains his muse and mistress; this time round it's a contemporary Dublin full of the ghosts of the boom and the turmoil of the bust.

McCORMACK GOES ELECTRIC (AGAIN)

FEB 24, 2010: Much to the chagrin (nay, outrage) of the folk world Barry has turned (once more) to worshipping the Gods of rock'n'roll. He's currently holed up in Stephen Shannon's studio in the inner suburbs of Dublin recording an album of recession ballads and divorce ditties.

Musicians featured include Joss Moorkens from The Dudley Corporation on drums, Stephen Shannon on bass, John 'Bon' Hegarty on keyboards; and long-time collaborators Shane 'Mad Dog' McGrath on axe hero duties and Gary Fitzpatrick on accordion and bawdyhouse backing vocals. Vent your ire at this travesty on Barry's MySpace and Facebook pages.

Release date: pending positive outcome of scratch card addiction.
